I use these 17smd ones.

I can see why the 25smd ones wouldn't fit.
Try them in the interior lights by your head, see if they're a suitable replacement for them.

Those monodirectional ones you tried should be perfect for the rear number plate illumination.
I posted a couple of pages ago about the 4LED sidelights I tried, which like yours just directed light ahead, they're now in the back lighting my numberplate.

Thanks for the suggestion Xac I'll give them a try.
I have already put the uni directional ones in the numberplate slots.

Cheers,
Chris

I tried to replace my sidelight bulbs with these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

They were bright enough but the pcbs of the leds don't fit through the hole in the headlight reflector on the Xantia ....pretty disapointed!!

Success!!! I asked the EBay seller for a refund as they didn't fit... To my surprise he refunded me and didn't want them back.
So I thought, with nothing to loose I'll just take a bit of fine emery paper to them and shave off the edges of the LED's about .5mm which were too large for the Xantia's sidelight hole.
To my surprise it worked. All the LED's are working, brighter than the originals and the bulbs, just fit hrought the aperture.
The LED's seem to be mounted on some ceramic like material, I just sanded away a small area on one edge of the material, staying away from the Led itsself.
I hope this helps someone.

Ive been using led tail light/stop/fog/reversing/number plate plus side lights for years.
the led's that are flat type are normally better than round type which are rated in mcd's (micro) and are cheap lots fail esp ebay ones.
thers some realy good ones with flat type leds can't think of name off top of me head one's cree which go upto and over 3watt.

If anyone needs i'l find out more for you as have a shop @ leyton thats stocks the realy good ones that last and are more powerfull.
those ones from ebay with 4 or 9 even round leds are mostly crap and fail soon.
the tail light ones that do brake etc you have to shop around as lots are s**t and fail as poorly made.there are some that are ok and better made as original ones i got from my auto leccy shop have lasted years but ebay ones are s**t and rows fail or flicker on them
