Wiper problem

Post by Rob11 »

Hi I own a Citroen ZX 1.9 diesel and when I turn on the wipers the fuse for the indicators blows. Any idea how to fix this?

Check the wiring from your wiper motor, back to the fuse, it would appear that you must have a bare wire somewhere along the line, causing a short.

Check any clusters of wiring that might run along by metal parts of the body-friction, and vibration might have worn a wire that may be making contact with the body.

Another option might be that the motor is stuffed. Easy test is to disconnect it from the loom in the scuttle and run a couple of wire jumpers to the connection block from the battery. You will need the wiring diagram for the pining sequence, so you know what is the constant lives and the earth/neutral.

Had this problem recently on Xantia. Fuse supplies flashers and rear wiper. Temp resolution - removed tailgate cover and disconnected wiper motor connector - flashers working, will have to have a look at wiper motor
