Xantia Instrument Cluster

Post by rory_perrett »

Following on from the recent thread about Xantia instrument clusters, I have change the unit on my Hdi for the one off my previous 2.1td. Everything works fine except the service indicator countdown. Not that it bothers me that much but the Hdi reset to 12,500miles, the 2.1td to 6000 miles. Is there a quick/easy fix for changing it from resetting to 6000 to displaying 12,500 miles?

This might be considered a bit of a facetious answer but surely having a service indicator countdown shorter than before can only be a good thing.

Personally I think 12K between services is far too long and 6K is much more sensible...

That would be excellent for me, i service my C5 every 6K miles which usually works out at every 3.5 months. Though my C5 warns me of it needing attention at 12500 miles.

Which reminds me, its flashing saying it needs a service now.

I used to do the old BX religiously every 5 - 6k miles which at the time was every 5 to 6 weeks. Must confess that the HDi only gets done every 10 - 12k miles although is does get better oil. I do less than half the annual miles I used to so it wil lbe interesting to see if the Xantia engine lasts as long.

Really the service indicator is surplus as I go on the mileage, have to on the wife's Xsara as it keeps suddenly showing 0 and flashing at random intervals.

Cant see why not!

My Taxi man has a Xantia hdi, I service it at regular intervals, not nessecerally at the indicated miles, and so far the engine has done 212k !!

Oil changes are the real key... interesting to find the Clocks from a 2.1 work - ok theres no reason for the clocks not to work, what did the milage do?? Stay the same that was on the 2.1 or adjust to the HDi milage, or add the two together?

Aparently with the C5, if you fit clocks with a higher mileage then the car will store that mileage and go from there, fit clocks from a lower milage car and the original mileage is reinstated on the replacement clocks.

A bit of a pain if you get one from a breakers without knowing its mileage and new ones are huge amounts, you could buy an early C5 for the price of a new unit!

The mileage is stored "in the clocks". Carried on where the 2.1td left off so my HDi has gained over 50,000 miles.
