Robert, 22K miles, really? Did that look genuine?
Here's proof, Chris. A friend of mine told me about it and myself and Robert went to take a peek. Basically, it was left outside the mechanics quite a while ago to have some work done and has sat there ever since.

None of mine have been particulary high mileage - I tend to buy lower mileage ones, pile a load of miles on them for a few years and then bin them when they need too much work.

Currently:

Xsara Picasso HDi - 72k, bought Aug 08 with 43k - has needed far too much work for it's age / mileage and is on probation
Xantia HDi 110 Estate - 109k bought at 47k in Aug 07. Timing belt running on borrowed time  I'm hoping to get 150k at least out of this one.

Previous highest was a BX TD that I sold on at 136k after I changed the head gasket. Should have kept it really, as the replacement was a bit of a heap...needed a new clutch though!

Prevoius 2 1.9TD Xantias went at 112k (head gasket went, clutch on last legs, and matrix leaky) and 117k (had done 65k in 30 months, and problems were building, so I gave it to a friend in need - it went for another 2 years, but only added about 15k in that time).

Thanks Luke,

Robert PM'd me earlier about that, it does appear genuine. Though it does look like its stood out all its life. Though with a good clean and polish it will probably visually display its miles better.

It reminds me of the 31K miler we had, the pictures i was sent looked very similar, filthy dirty car, sat out the front of a garage with soft tyres and in need of a new home desperately. It didn't take much to get that car pristine, but that had been dry stored for most of its life.

If that TD was closer, id be after that one too.

Judging by some of the mileages posted on here my car (94 plate) has had quite an easy life, especially as it was originally used by a Citroen uk 'top brass' person in it's initial life (I'm only it's 4th reg'd owner) - as a rep mobile. When i bought it in late March 2010 it had 139734 miles on it, it now has 146840 on it & although it could do with some bit's n bobs doing on it (suspect o/s/r arm bearing is well past it's sell by date :( ) it's still going strong & unless a nice 2.0 peugeot 306 comes up for sale I've no intention of changing it.
Music keeps me going.

I thought this thread was about Xantia mileages!

Anyhow, my pop's '89 Cx Gti Turbo2 is showing 72k miles... \:D/
- it's in that bluey lilac metallic without a sunroof and still sitting on TRX's.

Well If we're going to CXs now (!)...
CGOOs just turned 70,000
The Brun Scarabee car is 59,000 (1 owner)
And a Pallas that is 28,000 miles with one owner too! 8-)
...and there's another, which is about 60K .

Citroenmad wrote: What kind of repairs have you had to do in that mileage? Major ones ... Gearbox, Clutch, Head Gasket, Injectors etc?
Due to circumstances beyond my control (and not the car's fault), the clutch was replaced at approx 45k - which means the current one has over 180,000 on it.

I always change the gearbox oil every year due to my experiecnes of water ingress.

Excluding the normal wear and tear items - spheres, suspension bushes, roll bar drop links, crank pulley (twice), glow plugs, handbrake cables and brake flexis (MOT failure last year), engine mount bush - the only "surprises" have been

Air mass meter
blocked vacuum pump (Seriosly benefitting from the knowledgebase at my favourite Citroen specialist!)
broken +ve battery terminal
Various electrical gremlins, the main one is all the exterior lighting has been running off a wire running directly from the battery, through the door jam and onto the stalk for the past 6 years.
Rear height corrector (twice)

The engine is as good as gold, I service it myself every 12500. The only issue I had was cold starting for some time, which was a glowplug that had gone short and was tripping the relay out.

I re-gassed the AC once two years ago and it had lost only 20% since it left the factory. It still works fine, only the blower's trannies popped yesterday!

I love my Xantia. It's been my faithful servant and the only time it has broken down has been the result of my own stupidity (crank pulley rattling which I ignored for too long, then tried to drive to 500 miles over a weekend)

I hope all my future cars are as "unreliable" as my Xantia.

My ZX 1.9D (1993) has done 218K miles.

In reply to Andy's comment:-

Before the ZX, I had a Peugeot 405 (1989), with a 1.6 Petrol engine, which burned a lot of oil and had a very smoky exhaust. That was at about 90K miles. It was looked after properly and not abused. If it had had a diesel engine I might still have had it now.

Yes, but this is the FCF and thread slippage is encouraged heartily. Off Topic is not a phrase in the site admins' vocabulary... :D

So go on all, let's hear about all cars (PSA preferred) that have starship mileages on them

Well, since its now all PSA related!

Ours are all quite low milers compared to the cars mentioned in here already, quick list of ours, highest first:

C5 SX 126K
C15 108K
C5 VTR 80K
C5 HDi 16v Estate 62K
Xm TD Estate 61K
1007 19K
C1 1900 miles

Spring chickens!

Though the Traction tops the lot, its history suggests its done 160K ish miles, most of which were in its early life during its 16 year 'career'

So about 618K collectively

My last CX25 DTR Turbo Safari had done 266k miles when I sold it, I had done over 150k of that.

I think the XUD engines would go on almost indefinitly if properly maintained, in fact I have never heard of one that has worn out! Many a good engine has been scrapped with a worn out vehicle and as Malcolm says the same can be said of the mechanical pumps, especially the Bosch ones.
