Xantia 2.1TD Estate Boot Wet

Post by gwoolie »

Only had my Xantia Estate a few weeks and find if I lift the mat up in the boot its wet right in the middle!
Ive checked the seal, cleaned the boot lid holes, added some more.
Ive sealed a bag over the spare wheel bracket to see if its comming "up" from there.
Its dry all round the edges, under the back seats is bone dry and always has been by the look of the carpet.
Any clues?

Is the plastic liner on the inside of the door sealed all round?

The carpeted area on the boot lid is bone dry.
Ive undone all the screws and gently dropped the cover off and there is a plastic liner covering the central locking parts.
This is tucked in to the bodywork.
Surly if this was the problem the carpeted cover would be wet to touch????
But then what do I know, thats why im asking [:)]

Popped the carpeted area off and the plastic inner linner has never been stuck down in its life! Few sticky strips in each corner.
So ive glued it down and put some Silicone over the edges too, lets hope that helps.
Will keep you all informed so we can help each other [:)]
Now wheres that rain???!!!

I've never had my inner liner off, but I gather from others who have had trouble, the plastic is sealed all round with mastic. Let's hope you've solved it.

I had this problem - only thing I found that would hold the plastic sheet in place was 'bolted panel sealant' - sticky strip on a roll from a car paint shop... everything else I tried fell off in a few weeks... silicon/mastic/plumbers' mait etc etc - been in place for a couple of years now.... Alex
