C5 KEY LOST IT'S PROGRAMME

Attempted to use the spare key of C5, last Saturday evening. The key had not been used at all in the past 4 or 5 years (after all it is only a spare). It opened the door (manually) switched on all lights on the dash, would not start the car. Has anybody had such an experience ?

The most likely explination is the car at some point has has a software update on the BSI unit. This process wipes all the key memorys & they have to be reprogramed afterwards, any keys not present at the time of this reprograming will not work again until it is re programed. Its a kind of security thing that enables lost keys to be deleted.
Hopefully for you the key will just need to be re coded, remember to take all the keys with you when you get it done.
