Designed for different fluid, so I guess the diaphrams wouldn't last against LHM...
DONT FORGET: Citroen Services or AEP also do Spheres!! AND Very good quality aswell, NEVER had a Bad sphere from them. As its been discussed elsewere, IFHS spheres are MUCH better then Amtek Ones..!!

Paul,
I'm sure I have seen that C5 spheres were fitted to the last run of Xantais.
Can't say if that was appearance only with the original type of diaphragm fitted but I'd suspect not. They were more likely giving them a pre-production airing to discover any in-use problems.
C5 spheres are twice the price of the jolly green ones though.

They will be, they last twice as long...
Ive got an X plate 2000 Xantia, with - well, Xantia spheres, so unless its the end of line Y plate petrols, I would have thought more likely someone has put them on.. I wouldn't be sure of the confusion it would cause to owners...

I can confirm that my V6 Xantia had C5 spheres fitted... I thought that the LHM in Xantia's can be used in C5 spheres but not the other way around!

I can confirm that C5 spheres will work on a xantia. I have a nice french word doc showing how to make the adapter up and have spoken to Plaides (Martin IIRC) who confirmed LDS and LHm are not that different so as long as new spheres were used should be fine, and would give a softer ride when used on corner and hydractive parts...

One position I wonder about with the width of C5 sphere's is the accumulator as its rather tight there at the best of times against the engine, I'll have to do a sizing up/test fit with one of the C5 sphere's I have in stock next time I'm checking sphere's, its a pity I didn't think of that on Saturday when I did the BIL's carcitroenxm wrote:Well well.... we have NO worries then about Xantia units dissappering then...

On a related point, I wonder if C5 Strut Tops could be adapted for the Xantia?
I'm currently pondering the biggest threat to running a Xantia long into the future and things that really might be irrepairable or unobtainable a few years down the line, thus writing off the car. Strut Tops seem a prime candidate..

So, based on the average S1 strut top lasting 10 years it follows that...citroenxm wrote: They last 5 times longer then S1 tops!!!
An S2 strut top should be good for 50 years
Excellent! No worries there then.

Put it this way Jim..
Ive now got Series 2 Tops on my S1 Xantia, the tops came off a HDi SX that had a massive 260k on the clock... I had absolutly NO reason to beleve they had been changed.. yes there was signs of the rubber cracking, but the metal was solid..
On another S2, I know for a fact, that lived up here, the car has done 289k on original tops, again with signs of slight rubber cracking, but SOLID metal!
So we NEED to collect Series 2 Tops from scrap yards, Oh, and Normal Tops CAN and I Know have been converted to Hydractive tops!!

Hi Xantidote,
Struts fitted straight into the car no problem,, but you got me thinking now, I cannot remember if I changed the strut or not with them... I think I used the orginal 94 struts, because I have a pair of tops with no stut in them in the shed...
