Xantia fob remote locking/alarm not working

Post by willhay33 »

1998 Xantia Mk2
Recentley the remote fob decided not to lock/unlock doors, as i have found out that you cant re-program used ones i want to check the problem.
Should the Alarm(hazard lights flash) turn on using just the key?
Is there anything else worth trying before i get new fob, key reprogrammed?
Where is the reciever for the RF fob?
Any help on this appreciated.

Can any auto-electricianreprogram a fob?

Thanks, Will

Hi Will

Simple question first have you checked/changed the batteries in the fob :)

No the indicators will not flash when using just the key to lock the lock the car as you are not setting the alarm.

The reciever is on the drivers door by the movement sensor in the plastic cover by the door mirror.

I doubt very much if an auto electrician could reprogram the fob unless it is a new un programmed one reckon its a Lexia or dealer job

Maybe it just needs re-synchronising. I believe the procedure is to pop the key in the ignition, turn on the ignition and press the button.
