Was having a poke around my HDI on the ramp yesterday, mainly to determine the source of a ticking sound at idle and slightly above, engine speed. Looks like the most probable reason is a faulty crank damper pulley. The metal part in the middle has been making contact with the outer part evidenced by a circular score mark.
So, do I get an OEM pulley or is there a good quality pattern part that can be recommended ?

When I changed the pulley on my 406 HDi 110 about 3 years ago, I sourced the part from the local stealers, as I was in a hurry to get one, and it cost me around £160.
I happened to be in the Leeds branch of GSF a few weeks later delivering there, and told one of the guys about my costly excursion, to which he then produced the same part, (Stamped Peugeot.) in a plain white box for £90.
When I made further enquiries with him, he told me that they come from the same factory, but because it was in a plain box, they couldn't sell it as a genuine part!!!!! Another reason why stealers are so called.
Go figure.
