Its amazing how much slower the 110bhp is in the C5...

In the Xantia, its rather a stormer!! Is the C5 really that much heavier?? They both produce 110bhp, the S2 xantia is heavier then the S1...

But the difference between XUD and HDi is amazing!! I dont know exact figures, but for a heavier car to then do More MPG must mean the units are really good..

Anyway, my point was, how slow they are in the C5.. As for anti pollution, as Chris, if its the 8v lump, then FAP and all that crap wont exsist.. Theres only a Cat and thats it...

Im now driving a HDi 110 Xantia, and have to say the pull is right there from 1700 rpm to 3k.... it could even be 1500k, but its very noticeable, and I love it! Ive got a tuning box at home, which has come back tome, I cant wait to fit that and be even quicker!

I have read that he C5 is heavier but haven't any data to confirm that other than my handbook says 1385 Kg for the saloon 2.0HDi so my estate will be slightly more.

Doesn't give a figure for the estate :?

Just been on an approximately 30 mile round trip and it is functioning perfectly with no Antipollution warning :?:

Ive only driven one HDI Xantia, but it was obviously a poor car (it was) as it was extremely slow, so I cant comment on them.

Ive driven 4 2.0HDi 110 C5s, two estates and two hatches. Im not sure if its the extra weight of the estate which makes them feel a bit slower, but they didnt perform quite as well as the hatches. Our previous estate was a bit of a slug, it needed working all of the time. My hatch is the nippiest of the ones ive driven.

Mine pulls from 1500rpm and will keep on pulling way past 3000. With the 2.1TD Xm at full chat it offers similar performance to the C5, maybe the C5 is a bit quicker. Though the benefit of the HDi is a bigger usable rev range, as the 2.1 needs more revs to get it going.

I dont find my C5 slow, it is ample and actually surprising at times, considering its a big heavy car. Id like a remap, but im not sure when or if that will happen. Im happy with it as it is.

Id have a 2.2 HDi if they were any good, but only for the H3+ suspension, not for extra go it offers.

The 2.016v HDi is a nice engine, performs very well.

mine has developed the same problem, light came on when the service was due and it goes into limp mode. Thought the service might fix it, but no such luck. I have descover that if in limp mode, if you put it in neutral, kill the ignition and let it coast for 15-20 secs. When you restart it limp mode has gone.

My turbo seems to start working at about 2400rpm, then really kicks in at 3000rpm. Very poor power between 2000-2400, had real problems in Devon/Somerset earlier this year up the 1:4 hills unless I kept it in 1st gear, my focus 1.8TDCI used to fly up them in 2nd or even 3rd.

where is the MAF sensor and how do I check it?

Julz,

That sounds like a buggered Electro Vacuum valve, that controls the turbo wastegate!

Whats happening is the wastegate is staying shut, so all boost is going into the engine, the boost sensor senses the over pressure limit set in the ECU and shuts the thing down... however, key off, then back on when stopped and it clears it again!

Had this on a Xantia HDi, I called it a "Soft Limp Mode Setting" becuase you can clear it with key off, replaced the small electrovavle, C5's over by the brake servo, and all was fine..

Thanks. Any way to check it or is it best just to replace it?

Sorry, Ive no idea how to check, I used a lexia to get the fault code reading when the Diagnostic light was on, and it sugested turbo pressure fault... so I changed the Wastegate Control Electrovalve and t was fine again!
