Blower or internal heater Fan .Xantia 2.0 HDi
The Blower or Internal heater fan rums at maximum, (full speed) no matter where the slider control is positioned. I have established (through an Electrical Engineer) that the Heater/dashboard Slider Control is working properly. Can anybody offer any advice here.
IIRC this is due to a pair of transistors failing.
I remember seeing a guide on here somewhere to replacing them but cannot seem to find it.

Thanks Citronut :Tobi_Hdi & CitroJim, for your replies. That is a most useful diagram from Jim. I have a Citroen Xantia Mark2 (pre Hdi) from which I have removed the Fan/Blower & fitted it in my HDi tonight - all working perfectly. I will however be using your diagram Jim & repairing my faulty unit, as the price of a new unit is on the high side. Good Luck Citronut with your repairs. We have had the same problem, as mine was acting exactly like yours.

These MJ2955 are, I think, the PNP mates of the 2N3055.
Yes, spot on with the MJ2955.
Another possible alternative is the 2N6287.....

That's amazing Malcolm last time I looked they had a thousand or so in stock.citronut wrote:the package turned up today with a note stateing they are curently out of stock
I can only assume a lot of Citroens have had blower problems this year
I'm not sure where else in the electronics industry they're used. High power audio amplifiers mainly as that was what they were originally designed for...

Check your pollen filter to make sure it isn't blocked, this will cause overheating.

well they transistors turned up today 2nd class post from Leeds, the other part of our order turned up yesterday via UPS from Belgium,
as Jim found on there web site it lists over a 1000 in stock in the UK and 100 in stock in Belgium,
i think its a bit daft sendding two packages via diferent methods and from diferent countrys,
especialy as its free carridge,
also when i placed the order i asked for batched pairs, and was told they cant supply them as batched paires,
turns out all 4 are the same batch
regards malcolm

Ahh, yes, using two from the same batch I regard as essential as the circuit has no current sharing arrangements, relying on the transistors themselves to be sufficiently well matched to effect reasonable current sharing.
All to save a couple of resistors
Pleased it all turned out OK Malcolm although as you say, some of today's logistics seem distinctly barmy to say the least.
