I think all C5s have heated door mirrors, they work when the rear window heater is switched on, and usually work very quickly.

It could well be a fuse, that would the best place to start looking for a fault.

Thats what I was thinking, but, the rearwindow heater works very well.

Could there be a fuse between the switch and mirrors

No but they could be on their own fuse, remember like nearly everything on this car the mirror heaters get switched in the BSI so while they get activated on with the heated rear window switch the actual supply could well be completely separate.

Of course the other strong possibility is that the glasses have been replaced at some time by cheap glasses that don't have the heaters :-(

Yes! On the Exclusive HPi that I bought for spares, when I came to "borrow" the passenger door mirror assembly (the temp sender on mine had failed) I discovered that not only was it not a heated mirror, it wasn't even a folding type!

It could also have been repaired with a simple stick-on mirror glass. This won't defrost as the adhesive strip on the back will insulate against the heat.

One original one replaced with Gen part.
You say they are powered from Bsi, is this the same unit that powers Eolys pump?

Only indirectly the BSI controlling power distribution and what bits are enabled when.
The EOLYS system has it's own ECU however data from this ECU is routed to the BSI on the VAN2 bus (early C5's). Data transferred includes fuel quantity data to the ECU and additive level from the ECU, there may be more.
