temp display on dash

Post by Pompey_Dave »

over the last couple of days I have noticed that the clock area on the dash, next to it is the temp display, for the last 2 days its been dam cold in the morning, and the display has a little snowflake picture on it, and its been flashing

it only seems to do it when the temp is down to about 3 or under...is it anything to warn me about the air con, or is it doing something else due to the temperature outside?

cheers

oh yeah, Xantia Mk 2 is the car

When the outside temperature drops to 3°C a blinking snowflake sign appears next to the numbers on the display.
It is black ice warning. It blinks for outside temperature values between 3°C and -3°C.

Below -3°C snow flake is always on :-)

so its nothing to worry about with the actual car then?

Good good...I thought it was telling me that the Air con needed regassed, which would of been annoying as I havent used it for a month or 2 when it was a warm day and I was on the motorway and the car was too warm inside

Well, different...Ive never had a car that gives me a warning like that lol!

It seems a reasonably common feature on modern (ish) cars now.

I remember my old Vauxhalls (yes, I know  ) used to flash the outside temp if it was low as a warning too.

C5s have a similar feature, a warning message comes up on the central display 'risk of ice' and the temperature figure flashes.
