Radio setting Buttons

Post by lesliebear »

Hi All. Looked everywhere in the forums for radio info but can't for the life of me find anything in the searches regarding radio queries.Appologies if I'm not in the right place. Anyone kind enough to have a quick shuffty in their handbook and tell me how to input the code in my old R Reg Xantia radio cass. I've entered the 4 digit code but what do I press to activate it. Been on the web and the two suggestions I got mentioned,( station +) Ain't got one and( ^) ain't got one of those .Thinking about selling the car and would like to put the old radio back in.

I'm sure the unit has five or six buttons, the 1st four used to input the code and the 5th enters it into the radio.

If memory serves me right, I think you press 6 when you've finished entering the code.

I may be wrong though.

What version Xantia do you have as an R reg one could be a series 1 or 2, does the radio have a knob or push button for adjusting the volume? The reason I ask is that there procedure for entering the code is different between the two models.

From memory if you have a push button volume control then you have a MK1 stereo.
The method for putting in a code say 4936 is press button 1 until 4 is displayed then button 2 until 9 is displayed etc etc and then press button 6.

A rotary volume control usually means you have a MK2 stereo and you then press the buttons 1-6 as you should have a 4 digit code that has a number no higher then 6.

Ie code 6264 is button 6 button 2 button 6 button 4

Hope this helps

Radio setting Buttons

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi,
When I input the radio code after battery reconnection, I made a mistake and entered one wrong digit. The radio has been locked for a while. I left ignition swith in AUX mode ( for radio ) for 1½ hours- still 4 bars.

Q. Do you have to leave full ignition on for over an hour to get to the ENTER CODE sign????.

I left the battery disconnected overnight too, to see if memory would be wiped---still 4 bars.
Thanks,
Greg

IIRC you need to press the "Band" button first in such an instance.

Radio setting Buttons

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi,
Went out to car last night and tried pushing Band button- no difference. Pushed Band button at same time as Radio On button- music. Radio came alive with the word Citroen in the panel--BUT with an on/off bleeping sound from radio, which rapidly got on my nerves, and turned it off. Repeated attempts gave the same results. Never had this problem before, but then never made a cock up with the code either.
