I suppose when it asks for number of keys to be programed you could enter 0 but you would think it would suspect something not right & not let you continue ??
Yep. That's nudged the old grey matter! I think it asks for number of keys (transponders) first then number of remotes.

The handbook tells how to re-synch a fob after replacing the battery, for instance.

Simply insert key and turn ignition so the immob light goes out (no need to start the engine) then push the button (then other buttons in turn) within 10 seconds IIRC. That should do it.
Both mine on my HDi (2000) do not work.

Funny story once, While at my local Cit specialist having some work done I mentioned it and he went to do something and then said "the buttons seem funny" Her opened it up and said "there's no gubbins in here" I remember I had taken it out to test the battery and not replaced
I think he thought I was taking the P***, I wasn't.

Any way thought I would try again today.
Cannot find my handbooks at the moment
New batteries in both.

Tried above MikeT

Might be missing something but this is what I did and the result:

Key in ignition and turned on (not started engine)
All lights on etc
Pushed one button, then the other.

Removed key in excitement, stepped out of vehicle, push! but no joy :(

Have I missed a step?

mmmm, reading this thread it seems it is not possible :(

I need a four digit code? Where do you locate that? and the old "Lexia"

The code would have been supplied with the handbooks on a "credit card" when the car was new, if you don't have it available dealers can supply it provided you have documentation proving ownership.

Re Lexia look on the Lexia owners thread to find a forum member near to you, coding keys only takes a couple of minutes.

Sprout, I'm often down in Langport and Bridgewater so if you want a few keys programming we might be able to arrange something...

Not sure when my next run down that way will be but it'll not be too far away...

Jim,

I have been overwhelmed by the response of members here.

Your offer is a very much appreciated one, and I may take you up on it.

However today I have someone coming who is local and has just got a lexia.
He has wished to remain anonymous for the moment for fear of not knowing the equipment well enough.

I attempted all the sync methods mentioned and either I am doing something incorrectly or the plip is terminal.

I have two plips and both are none functional.

Cannot think of anything I have available to hand to see if they are out putting any RF.

Use to have a multi Hz scanner here but cannot locate it. Think I have read here it is in the 433 MHz range.

Obviously I will need to obtain my four digit code first any way.

He is predominantly coming to just scan for codes to help me fault find other issues which are limp mode and I believe no turbo working. I will start a new thread for that o course.

Will update in a bit.

Again, thanks and I may well need your assistance.

No worries Sprout, what you are seeing here is perfectly normal FCF behaviour :-D It's how we are!!!

Yes, the PLIPs transmit on 433MHz or thereabouts. I've never listened to one I must admit but I'd guess it would sound like a burst of noise similar to what you hear when your mobile phone is transmitting and it's close to a radio.

Any help you or anon. need, just shout..

Key and PILP programming on a Lexia is straightforward but the four digit code is essential...

Thanks

Chap only got here a while ago, crappy weather to.

Will ring dealer in the morning for code, if no joy without lots of £££ I will use the guy mentioned on here.

Seen the section on the Lexia for key programming.
Just a bit confused by the various options ref immobiliser etc (can't remember all the terms used) but there was quite a few wanting a Yes/No answer.

On the note of fault codes I was not surprised by the fault showing as I know I have no turbo and limp mode most of the time.

Fault showed:

Permanent Fault
Turbo Charger pressure solenoid valve measured inlet pressure too low.

I suspect it will be a hose leaking/split somewhere?
Will search around the various threads on here first as I am sure I am not the first :)
If I cannot find a thread to join in on so as to speak I will start my own for this topic so as not to clog this one with irrelevant speak.

EDIT: Jumping on this thread for starters http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... =3&t=36569" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks all =D>

Ok,

Decided before I tried the programming process to find out if either of my plips were actually producing any RF.

I found and ordered from ebay an RF/Infra Red key fob tester.

It arrived this morning (next day delivery) and it works a treat :-D , sadly only one of my plips work

At least I know that I can try the re-sync procedure describe here again a few times in the knowledge that the fob itself is working.

Do people put a spare key in the ignition so the plip to be re-synced can be pressed more easily?

I know the range of these are good when working, but for the sync procedure does it need to be close to the ignition?

If it fails I will obviously obtain my code and use the Lexia, but I am wondering why this should be necessary?

i.e what goes wrong to cause the plip to not respond to the resync procedure?
What is the Lex/code doing different?

Thanks

PS ebay auction number: 120893900192 £14.95 delivered.

I find it easy enough to press the buttons when the PLIP keys are in the ignition...

Normal faults on the PLIPs are bad batteries, bad battery contacts, bad switches (they wear out but can be replaced with care) and tiny cracks in the printed circuit board from where they get dropped.

When programming Lexia asks how many keys and PLIPs are to be coded. If one PLIP is dead, just say two keys and one PLIP...

That should see you sorted. When you are about to commence the key/transponder sequence, have all the keys/plips to hand. As you code or register each, put it in a different pile so you know which ones are done. I sit them in my lap, and drop 'em onto the passenger seat once dialled in.

Great advice Adam :) I've been known to get confused with just two to do....

Well the programming of the plip seem to go well.

Door locks and deadlocks all back to life :-D

HOWEVER

The alarm goes off after 10 minutes or so :( which means while the plip now operates we can't use it

The last time the plips worked all was well with the locking and alarm.

Now whether I have done something incorrect with the programming sequence or I am just am unlucky that the anti-theft system has developed a fault in the meantime I do not know.

What i do remember seeing with the Lex the other day when going through all the menus was a lot of options to do with alarms, but I did not see any of these yesterday when programming the plip.

Will have another look later today.

Still so far with the Lex, the help form this forum in the last week I have fitted a new fuel pump, regained the spin of the turbo and have a working(ish) plip :-D

Thanks guys
