waste gate fault ??
hi every one last week the beloved xantia ( 20.l t ) back fired loudly ( because of a fault with the lpg now sorted ) it immediately lost its boost pressure i could hear the waste gate leaking all the time . iv just taken off the front pipe and the waste gate disc and seat behind seem fine what else could of been damaged ? i was expecting to see a damaged waste gate . what do you all think cheers once again .

Wastegates are tough, they have to be because of the extreme temperatures they are exposed to. Also, you wont hear a wastegate, ever, its location inside the turbo outlet elbow and sealed with the front pipe means its impossible, it also doesnt make any noise!
Far more likely, a boost pipe has popped off or split. The favourite is the small joiner on top of the turbo to the outlet pipe, these get hardened and fatigue with age, a very fiddly fix too, like most thing on the CT engine.
