hi i have just been offered a 98 xantia exlusive 3.0 v6 auto for £3000 and it is very clean with 65.000 miles what are they like and worth, what are the common problems and what can i look out for

My V6 xantia has just passed 118,000 miles and sounds / runs the same as when it was new.
I get 32 mpg on a run with or without the a/c on. About 29 when commuting into London. I think this is better than many 3.0 cars.
The front discs appear to be unique to the V6 and only last about 36,000 miles so check those.
My exhaust (centre and rear box) failed recently - £350.
Check that there are no coolant leaks. This engine runs hot yet uses a regular radiator as used in 2.0 Xantias. Mine started leaking at 100,000 miles - I used sealer for a while, but eventually that gave way. Change it at the first sign of a leak! (£130).
Make sure the fans work. They come on a lot in heavy traffic.
Otherwise expect the usual Xantia faults!
