Interesting. This may the source of a reference to reprogramming in another thread.

What it is doing, it appears, it setting all the options so that a FAP is no longer needed. Depending on the cost of the Galletto cable (which I've never heard but am about to Google!) and software it could be a more convenient way to change the options.

I think I would take them off and replace with a length of pipe just in case I needed to refit them at some point. Even if they're never refitted the cat has scrap value which is worth reclaiming.

Had a little look around and the problem for a lot of people may be that the car has to be EOBD II compatible. That means (for diesel cars) 2004 or later.

So OK for woodywoodpecker but cachaciero will be out of luck!

Well maybe, but if one is prepared to sacrifice the FAP none of this is necessary it only requires a few holes drilling through the fab the idea being to achieve the absolute minimum pressure drop consistent with the ECU still believing that it has a FAP or if an even lower back pressure is required and / or one doesn't want to scrap the filter and cat then as I said before a suitable resistor network in place of the dif pressure transducer which I have no doubt is a far cheaper solution than the cost of a Galletto cable.
Worth considering also that the FAP must act as an additional part of the silencing system I would have thought removing it completely and not replacing it with some kind of additional silencing would make the car noisier, not that that would worry some I know :-).

A replacement piece of pipe to go in place of the CAT and FAP sounds attractive but I guess that means finding bits and doing some welding, not that that in itself is a problem but I really have to many projects on the go at the moment. Now if the Galletto cable and software would read the gearbox ECU as well as the injection ECU that would be of interest...:-)

The car needs to be year 2000 for the cable to work, mine is a mk1 c5 2004 also done mk1 c5 2001 and peugeot 406 2.2 2001 with no problems.

cachaciero
When I first got my lexia, the Eolys ECU was reported as a permanent error (I was trying to reset the EOLYS level).
After a couple of attempts to reset without luck I resorted to disconnecting the battery overnight. That cleared the permanent fault! (I think I had to reset it again afterwards, but that was back in the mists of time)

Since then all has worked fine.

Hi Jim

Yes disconnecting the battery was something I had thought about, your post has just pushed it up the agenda list :-)
