I like that colour, wouldn't mind if my Xantia was that, though I do prefer the metallic Silver!

You could get a basic job for about £1,700 if you know where to go, a good one for £2,000-2,500, or a really good one for £3,000 and up.

I think you're mad and cannot understand what's wrong with having a
mint Xantia in a distinctive/not that unpleasant colour - it's more a metallic
Plum and that's if the pictures are actually showing the colour correctly.
I've a smart 16v 2.0 sinker VSX that's in a burgundy maroon:

Image

Have you actually been to see it or just judging the car from the pictures?

Dave, do you really expect to get an alternate paint finish on the car better
than Citroen did first time out in the factory and on a car that is "show room
condition flawless" and costing 2K € with an additional £1-2K respray?

If you go for it, live with the color - there must be a ratio of 20 green one's
for every alternative Xant colour anyhow!?

AFAIK, there's only the only Delage red on the Activae - it's such an
unusual colour it can flip to significantly varied hues according to the
lighting conditions?

All said and done, I do recall a deep Plum colour on a car I used to see
so there's every chance this is the same and not the burgundy maroon
I picture on the 16v. I actually really liked it as it suits the lines of the
Xantia and stood out from all the dark blues, greys, greens.

One thing in the engine bay conspicuous by it's absence is the ABS fluidbloc
and it's ECU so this car for all it's €2k cost must be a base LX.

That's really strong money for a basic Xantia then. Could be good as there's
less to go wrong mind!

£2000 is too much.

In 2009 I paid £1650 for a 38000 mile 1 owner car. Practically as-new, FMDSH.

It's not an Activa but it is an Hdi, steady 50mpg.

And decent Activas go on eBay for £500-ish.

Anyone know who bought the Walsall car (eBay) this week? Sadly I was too late.

I dont mind the colour, certainly dont dislike it enough to pay £1500-£2000 getting it painted a different colour. Will that be an engine out job with the bay and innder doors etc getting the same colour treatment? Expensive, time consuming and not worth it, if the engine bay and inner doors are not painted it will just look a mess.

There are low mileage Xantias which do pop up, if you dislike the colour of this, and given its steep price, id leave it.

There was a S2 1.9TD Auto with very few miles, 12-18K i think, it sold for around £2K and it was mint, Air Con too.

They do turn up. :)

€2000 is too much ,id only get it if we could do something on the price

As it stands its still available and im going to give it a few more days

I will be stretched to the MAX  if i buy it ...

As for the re-spray it would all depend on how much i could get the car for and take it from there,i wouldnt really be prepared to spend 2grand getting it done anytime soon though

That does look to be a different colour to the maroon one you have Andrew. Im sure ive seen a Xantia in the metal that colour and its not too bad, though obviously it wasnt a big seller!

Dave why dont you get a PO box north of the border and buy an NI or UK car and register/tax it there and insure it there and then just drive it in the south?? be a much cheaper option :D and then just go north once a year to MOT it :)
