Hi Guys
I have a ZX diesel (non turbo) which whistles when i accelerate hard!
It has 168,000 on the clock and give 470 miles to a full tank.
Any idea what the whistling could be / where it could be comming from?? And would resolving it get me any more miles to the tank??

I had a similar problem with my Xantia TD a few years ago, and it turned out to be inlet manifold gasket becoming brittle and starting to break up. Its a plasticky material on later XUD engines, whereas on earlier cars it was metal.
I doubt this would affect your fuel consumption though, it made no difference to mpg or performance on my car while it had this problem.
