Removing door mirror CX s2?

Post by Diabolical »

I'm confused I can't remove door mirror from my CX, just keeps spinning round.

Looks to me like the big 28mm? nut is fixed? how do I go about this?

Thanks

i cant think on a MK two but if memery serve's the main fixing point on all CX's is the same , one large nut spot welded to a fixed plate underneath the door skin, except the crome ones which even those the base is still fitted to the large nut,

if so you just use the likes of plumbers grips at the base of the mirror arm to unscrew it from the outside of the door,

You should be able to see a very small grub screw on the side towards the car like this:

IIRC, once this is removed it should pull free. But, you will have to remove the doorcard so that you can unclip (I think) 2 block connectors of wires, and then the mirror should pull off and the wires should follow, with a bit of persuasion, through the whole.

I can't 100% confirm this though as there isn't a S2 at home! Only S1s :)

The S1s also have a grub screw too but more than likely they have rounded of which is a very large pain! :x
