ABS sensor

Post by DaveW »

Can anyone help with a part number please.

The front O/S ABS sensor on my X reg (2000) Xantia 1.8i, 16 valve hatch has given up. GSF want £62.50 for a replacement but I have seen some on fleabay for around £25 - just need to make sure the part No.s match.

Interestingly, when I checked the resistance readings at the ECU plug, the dodgy one gave a high reading rather than the usual open circuit, zero reading. The other three all showed a reading of 1.1K but the dud showed 6.4K and this was confirmed when I unplugged it at the front sub frame connector.

Sorry to have to ask for this info but I seem to have lost the site address for Citroen service (tool box) - anyone?

Dave.

Service Citroen shows the ABS Sensor as 4545.73. They are the same for all Xantias (with ABS obviously)

Something to bear in mind when buying parts of Ebay is the quality. Certain items I have heard are not so good. Not heard anything about the ABS sensors though.

Hang on there Toby... Be sure.. Same for all S2 XANTIAS!!

As S1 Xantias used a different system, with different sensoors...which dont seem compatible...

I thought I had read somewhere that the sensors for pre- facelift and post- facelift models were different lengths?

Paul,

Yes, sorry to repeat your words - my one finger typing is too slow and you beat me to it!

The part number matches the one on ebay and I have asked the seller to confirm suitability.

Do you have the web address for Service Citroen? I still have my log-in details but have lost the site address.

I'm in the same boat, front O/S, mine shows zero reading.

I spied this on the bay, around £15 including p+p,top feedback:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

When I had a quick look at replacing it, it looked like a pain of a job, wire routing etc,so I left it!
Really must get it done..my garage bloke who takes it for the mot, gave me a stern look last mot,(abs dash light's on),as I said I'd sort it...2 mot's ago

Opinions on the above 'bay item? Surely can't go wrong at that price?

The wiring route is not too bad.
Once you are under the car you can just about reach the connector with both hands (well fingers!) where it sits on the cross-member and from there to the sensor the cable is held mostly by grommets pushed into slotted brackets.

The front and rear ABS sensor heads are different.
Rear sensor is "resting" over the ABS ring and front is more like "pointing" towards it.
