Hi,
I have a problem on an S reg 1.9td LX Xantia, series two, colour coded bumpers.
The speedo records that I'm doing 150+ while at a stand still and the Rev counter is maxed out too.
It isn't counting any miles and hasn't done since about 2008, still stuck at 58K
I've read about the dry joints at 50mph and about the wire through the reset hole to unstick the rev counter after a high/low voltage issue but don't think they apply.
Any one with any ideas where I start looking for problems?
Many thanks
Speedo and Rev counter maxed out.

I haven't seen a speedo maxed out but my Activa had a maxed out tacho when I bought it.
Apparently this can happen if you try to start the car with a dodgy battery. Needles go round so far that they don't return to the start stop because gravity wins. To fix, you have to take the instrument panel out and tip it upside down so gravity will return the needles to mid scale and then back to start point. An alternative would be to roll the car one turn clockwise .
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Ken W

An alternative is to pull off the rubber cap on the odometer reset button and feed a stiff wire in through the hole.
