broken fuel pump banjo bolt

Post by mipster »

I've managed to snap what the h**ynes manual refers to as the banjo bolt on the bosch fuel injection pump on my N reg xantia 1.9TD
A quick look around the 'net and this isn't a standard replacement part, all the comments about the pump outlasting the engine aren't cheering me up either [:(]
Any ideas in where I can source one quickly?
cheers

Even a dodgy defective pump could be a donor for this needed bolt.

Got one!
My brainwave was to try the large diesel injection specialists, they repair bosh pumps so must have them. Pity they've run out, they did order a box full for tomorrow though.
Then on the off chance I called in at the local engineering shop in my village, unexpectedly they had a selection and 2 quid got me what I needed.
It isn't starting well now [:(], It cranks fine (recent starter motor) and there's no smoke when it does start so I presume it's fuel supply problems. I'll have a look at bleeding the pump tonight, any advance advice much appreciated.

Seen that Anders but thanks for the thought,
The car started pefectly until I removed the fuel inlet pipe which is why I think it's related to that and not just a general air leak.
I've got a one-way valve between the injection pump and the fuel filter anyway.
Priming before starting (ignition on) doesn't help either. Of course I'm hoping that the problem will work itself out of the system before I take a look.
Not that I'm discounting a coincidence.

Can we take it that you've transferred the copper washers to both sides of the banjo, and that they're in good nick?

I used 2 new copper washers but there was a noticable leak from that area tonight. I've tightened it further which seems to have stopped the leak, I'll see how it starts in the morning.

And it started fine this moring do all sorted, needn't have worried but when you need the car to go to work you break a important part at 8.30pm it's not the best feeling.

Don't forget to anneal the copper washers before you refit them. I't amazing how many people do.

you only need to anneal the washers if you are re-using them, don't you?
