depresurising C5 suspension

how do you depresurise/represurise C5 suspension, as i have got to do bearing on both rear arm's

but i cant find the section for depresurising/re/presuring the hydraulic circuit,

thank hunny

i presume the 2005 instructions are the same as a 2003 car,

i had looked at the pages just before those,

then i when to print 311 - 315 out selecting them it printed out 307 - 309, so i lied to it to get the three pages i required

pdf's can be strange!

I have one here - application for a free bus pass :D that will not, under any circumstances, print. I don't think Nexus wants us to have the passes - not that I would ever use it.

I started printing one for my daughter's SAAB, instructions for the soft top and it's problems - ran out of paper after 180-odd pages, fortunately.

well i got under that C5 today and depresurised useing the method without the DIS LEXIA,

with the rear end up on axle stands i let the suspension down after running the engine, then pressing the down switch on the centre consoul,

then pleced a jack under the disc hub across to the calliper so i could lift the arm up to compress the suspension cylinder/s,


on attempting to undo the calliper bolts they undid with great dificulty, as they have corrosion grown between the bolts and the calliper/s,

i have removed the N/S calliper but the bolts are still firmly stuck which i will work on tomorow,

It is pretty much standard for the C5 calliper bolts to be ridiculously tight and made more so if there is corrosion on the calliper backplane, as it bends the bolts out of line.

I had mine done as soon as I bought the car as a preventative measure and they were off again last year for new disks, they came off easily, fortunately.

I'm sure you have your own methods worked out by now Malcolm but I generally use a not excessively long wrench - an 80cm torque wrench usually, and a club hammer.

Shock the bolt with the hammer while inching it backwards and forwards with the wrench, to free it a little at a time without putting enough stress on it to shear it off.

The judicious application of some heat doesn't hurt either.

I have just been to IKEA with daughter/grandson to buy a new bed and bedroom furniture. She was doubtful about the C5's ability to handle the weight and the capacity to contain it all.

No problem at all and I swear the suspension was hugely improved by all the extra weight, something I have noticed before when overloading it to the max.

Just floated along like a proper Citroen!
(Slowly - no turbo until 3,00 revs :( )

these bolts were stuck were they pass through the calliper, they did unscrew very very tight and slow, the calliper is off but bolts still stuck solid in through them, and did not shear off,

i wiil opperate on them todayat some point,

For reasons best known to themselves, Citoen Loctited the bolts into the calipers on C5s :twisted: Application of some (er, maybe a lot!) of heat on the calipers should allow you to get them out.

OF COURSE!!

they have Normal Pooshow brakes, and NOT the good old standard Citroen Baiesed to the Front wheels only brakes on them!!!

spent all mornning geting them oooout, ended up checking if local dealer had them in stock, then driftted them out tight to the last,

when i collected the 4 new bolts was told they dont even bother trying to salvage C5 rear callipers, they just scrap the calliper/s and bolts and fit new at 160 quid a time, and he said they sell hundreds of the bolts,
