Changed A/C compressor - same problem!

Post by lazza »

HI All

I successfully changed my Harrisson compressor and receiver dryer.
Very happy with myself when it passed the leak test in the garage and they filled up with refrigerant and oil.

However today it seems that it is leaking from exactly the same place as my old compressor! balls.

I think Paul (Citrroen XM) had a similar problem.. and i have drawn two conclusions to be checked with you guys.

1. It is a common fault in these harrison 1135253 compressors.
2. I noticed the spacers were a little short, and maybe by tightening the mounting bolts on the inlet/outlet side end of the compressor-- this slackens the internal seal in the compressor...??

Any thoughts?

thanks
Larry

Did you chage it for a Same Style or make body compressor????

Ive changed the make of compressor completely to a single body, but not had the change to vac it out to see what the seal'd performance is like...

But, yes, I found tightening the bolts caused the leak in the body.. I even used the same spacers, that came off the HDi engine with the harrison compressor, And both XUD and DW10 (Hdi 8v) sumps are the same ones...

Anyway, I hope with this other compressor ill be sorted now...

Yup i changed it for an identical compressor.

will try changing the spacer/slackening the bolts later today and see if that helps. but having already loosened that joint, i'm afraid the problem may be here to stay :(
