Call me a chav, but...

Post by Dommo »

Does anyone know a good route through the bulkhead for an amplifier power cable on a Xantia Activa CT? Where does the main wiring loom pass through the bulkhead? I know on my 306 I used a big grommet where an air conditioning drain pipe passed through the bulkhead, is there anything similar on the Xantia?

Cheers, Dom.

You'll be taking two cables, won't you - one for ground directly off the battery?

Hi Dommo,

I routed a cable for a push button starter through the bulkhead where the bonnet release cable goes through. Its just above the clutch pedal in the bulkhead, pull the grommet back, adn you will be able to get your cable through.

Addo - as seisporting says you ground it anywhere there is a good ground, so where the rear lights ground for example.

Cheers Rob, I'll have a look there for the gromit you mention, and hope the lead I have is long enough ;). How do you find the push start button?

My Activa wouldn't start on the key, and a spare ignition switch I had was no use either. I had a wire running from the starter solenoid, that I would tickle the battery positive with to start it.

I just used an old heated rear screen switch with the logo polished off and put into one of the spare switch blank locations. Its acting as a push to make switch to make contact between the starter solenoid and the positive terminal. Its a gimmick really, but it enables me to start the car without lifting the bonnet!

Ahh fair enough, so do you still need the key for the immobiliser? I bet that'd have some thieves baffled for a little while!

Yep, I still need the key for the steering lock, and to power up for the immobiliser.

Robert - I used that grommet, it worked well thanks! Took a bit of time to get the cable through but we managed!

Thanks again. Dom.
