Xantia rear hatch lock

The locking catch on the rear hatch of my Mk 2 Xantia V6 has come adrift. The two steel inserts into which the securing bolts screw have come out of the plastic of the hatch, and they must have been loose for quite a while - the holes in the plastic have opened and there is no longer any purchase for them to bite into.
I have bodged things back together using Araldite, but the bolts take a thump every time the hatch is closed unless this is done carefully, and I would like a more permanent solution. Anybody else met this one?

I've used "chemical metal" with success its a 2 part mix similar to body filler, you may have to open up the holes slightly but may be worth a try.
