What was rectified in the end to the suspension; does your invoice receipt
show parts fitted - just curious!? Did all the sills get welded then?!?

As far as emissions go, maybe a service with new oil/plugs/air & oil filters
and an Italian tune up (good thrashing) will clear it's pipes a bit!

How can you get an advisory for bearing grumble "on take off"? They test them static and just spin the wheel with their hands.

Hmm, £700 for popping a clip back on and fitting a bulb. Good work if you can get it!

Sorry, but I think they saw you coming and I thoroughly despise con-men.

EDIT: I should have added, "I hope I'm wrong!" (I often am  )

To be fair there is a lot of welding done, both sills by the sound of it so that will be a fair chunk of the price, and we have to remember garages are there to make money as well as give good service, they are not charities!

All it says is "Full Rear Suspension Replaced". I've already changed the oil, filter, and plugs. Trust me, I've thrashed it! That 2 litre motor has been performing like it was made to! And they did get the welding done. 5 Hour job.

The garage I put the car to gives the cars a small test drive to see if there is any other problems not identified on the ramp.

At least there's 12 months of legal motoring ahead for you now. A late
2.0 Exclusive will be a nice car - is this with an auto adaptive box and 16v?
That should fly...

Regarding your high CO, CO indicates fuel mixture and i high level of co indicates a rich mixture, this is most likely to be a limp Lambda sensor or clogged air filter that sort of thing, you may find a CO adjustment screw on the throttle though if you want to cheat

As said above, a service and then a good motorway thrash just before the MOT usually sorts the emissions out.

I'd love to see what they actually did with the rear suspension.

So would I, because I woke up this morning and found the rear of the car almost touching the ground :hb:

And I can't start the car to see if it will raise again because the battery's flat!

sounds to me that the repair price has been inflated by welding costs to the seals, did the tester put yellow chalk around the corroded areas so you could see where the rust was? this is very supicious seals flexing.

my Dads N/s rear seal on his 96 xantia vsx was rotted at MOT this year and needed quite a bit of welding, but it wasnt flexing, I think the tester put it on the failure as rear chassis severely corroded.

The money has been spent and the repair done on what may very well be a
damned nice car and worth the trouble. I see setting up issues with the rear
suspension which may not have been apparent by the garage after whatever
repair was done at the rear and I would expect some recourse from a revisit
to 'tune' this having had such an eye watering bill last week.

The flat battery may suggest they didn't reconnect the alternator after it was
disconnected for MIGing the car - is there a red dash charging light dim/flickering/lit?
