Aircon compressor change

Post by lazza »

Hi Forum

Not sure if I should put this in the Aircon forum.

Anyway- i'm about to change the aircon compressor on my Citroen Xantia. I seem to remember hearing that i should change the dryer at the same time??

My general question is: What should I change aswell as the compressor?

Thanks very much

Change the dryer because opening the circuit will cause it to absorb moisture.
Nothing else apart from a good, long vacuum at refill.

Thanks alot for your reply

Any advice on how to fit it and how much it should costs?

Cheers

Never done that, but it’s not rocket science.
I’m looking for posts from Xac about that.
Cost from about £20 on fleabay.
Anything near £40 is rip-off price.

Ive just swapped my compressor on my Xantia, because I had the I THINK Harrison compressor with split body compressor, and it leaked its gas from there... I put in a Sanden compressor from an 1800 8v Petrol on the TD, this compressor was a single body joined in a better way at the end...

I just need to vac it all out now, and make sure its all sealed.. BE Sure the Pipes at the back of the compressor are the same theres two type of connections, one which has a single 8mm Allen Bolt holding it together, the other has the older R12 Type connection were the two hoses have their own screw connections... I also noticed the body lengths are slightly longer - by a mm or so...

I also had to take altinator off and to get that off, the HP PUmp..

you need altinator off to get at the top mounting Bolts..
