OK, my car is fairly new, but good quality fuel (Shell Diesel Extra) and the occasional tank of V Power seems to be a good combination.

Many people advise against supermarket fuel and say that big brand fuel has more detergents. The Bosch fuel injection specialist in our town recommends exclusive use of Shell and BP.

I do have a Millers Sport 4 for the occasional dose.

I also recommend an italian tune up when the engine is warmed through. I give my car a good dose of revs. It's also fun!

Hi Kev

As some of the other previous posts I have used many additives over the years, Redex diesel was regularly used with the 'dupermarket' fuels but have been a long term convert to Millers.

Now using Ecomax (formerly Diesel sport 4) on an every 2 - 3 tankfuls dosage as price makes prohibitive but also only use Shell fuel.

Some say that Shell smells like Millers or other additives have been added but I notice the difference in performance from 'dupermarket' stuff!

Regularly average 44-45 to the gallon based upon 'brim to brim' fill ups and suprisingly, compared to reports on forum, my on board computer reads the same (currently 44.8mpg) so some are accurate!

I have improved performance with addition of Synergy unit http://tuning-diesels.com/index2n.htm and add a dose of ZX1 http://www.team-zx1.com/ to the engine oil once a year whatever the service.

Hope this helps

Interesting you should mention Shell, their v-power stuff does contain a redex like additive.
All the stations around here have signs up saying that their regular fuel is going to be improved soon too.
