The mention of Injector cleaner killed the thread

Post by KevMayer »

I've mentioned using an injector cleaning fluid on 3 threads now and each time the meer mention of using the fluid has killed the thread.

And, as I've mentioned it again I don't suppose there'll be a reply to this thread either.... LOL

I've recently used one from Halfords called 'Comma Diesel Magic' and to be honest I'm very impressed with the results. I wish I'd used it ages ago. I really feel that it's cleared out some rubbish.

Cunning plan starting a thread mentioning injector cleaner - must be a
runaway thread over 5 pages now as an equal and opposite effect to the
x3 previous ones!

I've used Redex on the petrols so would expect the dieseol version to do
the job too - cheaper in Asda than anywhere else I've found.

Forte is good.... that would work well too.

I just think the principle of giving your injectors a good clear out could be the key to a lot of problems.

I use the comma diesel magic.
Although I think the forte stuff is quite good too. The peugeot dealer around here used to do the "forte treatment" when my old 306 was service and charged a rip off price to do it too.

Kev, Just put some Redex injector cleaner in mine, only done about 30 miles since, will let you know the outcome. I also bought one of the MAF sensors the same as the one you bought, when I fitted it the engine became very lumpy on tickover so I put the old one back in, do you have to do anything with a Lexia after the change?

I've changed my MAF twice and I didn't have to do anything each time. Maybe it takes a time for the ECU to adjust. Possibly try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds and see if it resets any learned parameters.

Redex is more of a gradual/progressive treatment. The treatment I'm talking about is more of a one off intensive clear out.

That's interesting, I will hunt some of that down and give it a try.

In all four of our cars I occasionally use Millers Sport 4 but always make sure I give a more than the recommended dose in the weeks before each MOT. They sail through the smoke test.

I believe Sport 4 has been replaced by this:-
