Xantia S1 - Central Locking not working

Post by gadgetgricey »

Got in the car this morning, all fine. Got to work and the car would not lock??

Thought it was the remote, so tried to lock on the key, and only the drivers door locks.. Central locking obviously ker broken.

Any obvious places to check, things to look for when I get back.

(As an aside, I cant even lock one of the rear doors. The locking button will not depress, door closed)

As always, any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Got in the car to go home tonight, and no power, nothing???

Had a look under the bonnet and found the culprit.

Lead has cracked and had come off totally. Put it back on, but dont now for how long. Easy job to replace??.

similar happened to one of mine, used bolt cutters to chop the old ring off and got a replacement from a car audio place to take all the wires.

Something like

Or if you want to be funky

an alternative is to remove the broken outer half of the ring, and use the bolt to fit a new ring.
Something like this

So use the old ring's bolt through where the new ring would clamp onto the feed.
