Thanks for that citronut will check for damage.
The seller said he put it on full height to change a wheel and it never came back down so maybe it is just a seized height corrector.

except for a slightly bent pipe going to the offside sphere there is no damage. All linkages were fine and moving, replaced the H/C (old one was leaking)
why is it when the suspension was fine and you put it up to full height to change a wheel that the car wont come back down to its correct ride height, and how do you get it to come back down.

The linkage is made up of two parts, the auto adjuster which connects to the antiroll bar and comes into effect when you load up the boot or remove weight from the boot. This is the one which gets stuck most often.
The other part is the manual override which is controlled by the height adjuster lever in the cabin.
If the auto adjuster linkage is seized then moving the height control lever won't move the auto adjuster.

If it's sticking on high and the dog bone is in place, then set it on low and it should then come right down, then try setting it on normal.

Thanks for that, now dont shout at me for being dumb but if I disconnect the DB how much movement should I get on the arm it is connected to,
obviously I would'nt do this without the car supported firmly.

Well I'll be blowed the muppet I bought the car from must of had his numbskull monkey mates look at the car (I did pick it up from a bodywork type garage),they managed to get the two pipes on the back of the H/R the wrong way around. Also one of the rear speres has been changed the other they attempted to change but only managed to twist everything around explains the slightly bent pipe i found.
And I did changed the H/R unit cos it was leaking and put the pipes back on as I found them.
When I changed the pipes around I had to reshape the pipes so they would go into there respective holes so I know it was'nt me that got them wrong, plus ITS WORKING NOW yipeee.Anyhow thanks to those that contributed towards helping me out sorry it was all in vain.
So the moral is dont take anything for granted if you buy a used car  .

Argh I should have known as I did the same thing with Juliet!
It never occured to me that the pipes could have been in the wrong way on yours, but then it has taken me this long to work out that DB=dogbone so I've definitely been working too hard!
Glad it's sorted :D
