dogbone
Hi all new here so be gentle with me.
Not new to citroens had a ds and two bx about 15 years ago,and have just retired my zx,i've just purchased a 96 xantia with suspension stuck in high position problem, the little plastic connector thingy may be detached or broken,on reading the forum everyone calls it the "DOGBONE".
Can anyone tell me the correct name for it as I would like to go and buy one,and going to GSF and asking for a dogbone may get me the response "i think you need pets at home".And if I cant get it their is citroen the only place to get it from.

worth mentioning that IF the DB has come off, it's a sign that something else is not quite right..
ususally the sprung part of the Height corrector has began to sieze.. copious amounts of WD40 or similar, whilst manually working the HC should get it right again. (You could undo the manual rod linkage at the HC, to get more movement)
do this safely under the car.. I use ramps normally, so if the suspension does come down, there is still room to breathe

hmm.. what you may be able to do is manually move the piston in the HC in or out a little, for a few seconds, to get the car lower.. as before ramps (or a garage ramp) are absolutely essential.. i mean, really really..
in theory the car will stay at the height you set it, until you get it home and can work on it better..
better though would be to get the car to a local garage and get the linkage freed off, then fit the new link..

I wouldn't use stands wotwot..
grab a couple of ramps on your way down there.. halfords etc.. you will use them when you get home again too
I only ever use stands when working on a switched off xantia.. to adjust height etc you may need car running, and then having the full range of movement that ramps will give you is prefereable to the car rising and falling on the stands..
the piston should move ok, it needs firm pressure one way or the other to rise/lower the car.. but the sprung linkage from the piston to the plastic link is the bit that will have seized..
we need a second opinion from others on this.. as it's been a fair while since i touched the hydraulics of a citroen...

After all that messing around trying to get hold of the DB it was attached and ok,unfortunatley the back end is still stuck up in the air in whatever position you set the lever, the front end goes up and down into the various positions fine, will have a look in the morning when I have it raised on stands.
