C5 rear parking sensors

Post by Julz »

I had device on the rear side window of my C5 estate that I think was some kind of mobile phone aerial. This fell off the glass in the heat and the dog ate through the cable and now the rear parking sensors aren't working. Anyone know where they are fed from and if anything else is on the circuit as I suspect the fuse has blown.

There is a box in the spare wheel well on my C5 (mine is a mkII, I believe the MKIs are similar), that box is the ECU for the rear parking sensors. I think the speaker / sounder is behind the trim on the side of the boot.

Yes it's citroen fitted, and yes the reversing lights are still working.

I've traced the wiring that the dog ate and it goes into a box behind the side trim. The box is a citroen "sensor de recul" (reversing sensor). The cable is from the output part of the black box, so I presume that was the sounder and not a phone aerial as I first thought. I've thrown the chewed bit away now :(
Judging by the way it's connected to the loom and the way it's just thrown behind the trim panel it must be dealer fitted rather than factory. What a stupid place to locate the sounder anyway.

I'll have to get the part No off it to see if I can find any more info on t'interweb

If its a dealer fit rather than factory fit you wont get any spares seperate for it. You will likely need to but a complete kit to get the bit you need.

Unless you can repair it easily, you might as well buy an aftermarket kit - they're very cheap these days.

Valeo sell a kit to install parking sensors. They are 1/2mm bigger than the citroen originals so with a couple of turns of the included drill bit they fit into the same holes and look original.

I can't find the part number right now, but I think it ends in 000.

I've managed to find out it's made by Meta so have contacted their techincal support to see if they still make spares as the current only model has a speaker.
