Lexia updates & problems - take care !

Post by fred1 »

Hi,

Doing a normal update of the internet of version 45, not paying close attention and downloaded and installed version 46.

Everything ok until I came to use the leaxia on the car !

Software started up ok and I was able to select model etc but when it came to running the tool I was asked to go thru the authentication routine again.

It then turned out that the original keygen software does not work for verion 46 !

Anyone else had this problem or have a solution?

Removing and reinstalling V45 from scratch also failed as the key appears to be locked up somewhere, perhaps in the registry. So the only way forward seem to be to re install XP (fortunately it is a second operating system on win 7 laptop and dedicated to lexia).

Fortunately I have a second laptop on which I have not updated V45 so am still operational so to speak!

Regards

John

Within Windows 7 are you running it as a VM or a dual boot as the VM option is FOC from microsoft and would make life a lot easier for you i bet :)

From all that I read on citroen.service.com the whole drive of Lexia development is to put all the functionality "on-line"

E.G from 44 wiring diagrams if you have them will not be updated and will only be available on SEDRE (if you have accesss:-( and as I understand if during the update it detects that you have local copies of schematics the update process will remove them.

I would suggest that if you have a car older than four years and your current working version of Lexia covers the car then don't update. There is little or no chance that Citroen are going to spend time doing updates for four year old cars so there would appear to be little reason to update.

I have been investigating access to Citroen.Service which is the Citroen technical website and I would suggest that it is worth opening an account. There is some free stuff available and it would appear that most services are available on a pay per use or per day basis. Currently on there you will find a lot of info on Lexia upgrades currently free to view.

Hi,

I am running a dual boot.

I did try VM but found lexia ran considerably slower under VM and that dual boot was the better option.

I agree about updates - initially they seemed perhaps of little value but harmless !

I think my problem was that I did not spot that it was a V46 update. I had previously had no problems with V45 updates.
