Ooops.

If you check around some of the other C5 threads here there are instructions on how to remove the instruments - fairly easy - and how to swap the stepper motors.
You can use the one from the tachometer but then you have to do it all twice if you want the tachometer to work
The same stepper motors are to be found in similar vintage Peugeots too.
Haven't time to look for the threads just now, sorry.

Fitted the tacho stepper but I may have messed this up. As I didn't know that the motors came off in one piece, I split the motor casings, now I dont know if the spring was in correctly.
So, next step,
Two motors out of a Laguna, these came out without the four wires/pins, So I split the motors and used the conecting bit out of my old motors.
Now, Neither the speedo, nor, the tacho are working, but the needles seem to have stopped flickering.
Do I need C5 motors or Does the car need resetting on a computer?

Don't do it. If the donor car has a higher mileage recorded than yours then this higher mileage will be PERMANENTLY written to yours.wigelywoo wrote:I've been offered a instrument cluster out of scrapper, what happens if I put the doner unit in my car?

Almost sorted
I fitted stepper motors from C5 Automatic.
I set speedo to zero but found after driving the car speedo was 4-5 mph fast, checked with sat-nav, and needle stops at 5mph when the car is stood.
I can live with this, but will move needle to correct this at later date.
Many thanks to all who have helped.
