C5 Blowers

Hi I have a C5 2.0HDI estate VTR 2004 model with air-con, the blowers have stopped working, the little LCD fan moves up& down on the display but no blowers at all ???????????????????? I have read on other searches of fans blowing high constantly but I have no blowers at all???
any help appreciated..regards ........Tony

In my case it was one of the electrical connector that wasn't soldered properly to the circuit board that caused the problem but it can also be the MOSFET. You won't know until you get the module out.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Looks like a classic case of control module kaput!

It lives behind the trim above and to the left of the clutch pedal.
2 6mm hex bolts hold it in, a longish nut runner makes extraction fairly simple.

You may be able to fix it, it is probable that the output transistors are blown or have overheated and melted the solder on the connections. Replacement transistors available from RS, Farnell, possibly Maplins or through an TV repair shop/electronics specialist.

A new unit cost me £54 from the dealer - didn't have the sense to take it out and check it.

Take care when removing and, especially, replacing the screws. A blob of BluTak on the socket will help prevent the screw falling down behind the trim into somewhere inaccessible.
