That procedure is really what you do before and then to reconnect the battery when replacing it - but also serves to reinitialise any ECUs that may have become unresponsive or problematic on the car - and can often cure a lot of electrical niggles.
Here's the list and at the bottom is a map showing member locations on a map. Send one of them a Private Message (but bear in mind they are not always on the forum as regularly as some).

Re: citroen c5 2.0 hdi power steering fault
Must be something in this . I recently went out to Spain after my dad passed away to sort out house etc. First job was to get car running so we had transport. Battery was flat having been stood for 6 months so jump started it.However STOP light illuminated on dash and no power steering. Usual checks for fluid, leaks etc but all good .Found this forum and thread so was ready to do battery procedure as described. Next morning started car up and steering fine .light off. Got to be an ecu. /time thing after flat battery common to car model

One of the posts says 2005 VTR, that would surely have an electric power steering pump not the belt driven one.

Re: citroen c5 2.0 hdi power steering fault
Charlie has the electric power steering version - and his problem is sorted as far as I can see.
But the BSI reset is useful for reinitialising ECUs that have got 'stuck' either dies to a flat battery or improper battery disconnection / connection, and of course the electronic power steering has its own ECU, so this probably resolved his issue.

Hi guys,
I am new to this forum (thanks for accepting me).
I have just bought a 2008 C5 VTR+ 2.0hdi Auto which I must say is a fantastic car with every conceivable extra on the car... BUT... I have what seems to be the fault described in this post - i have tried the levels and reset and just wondered if the OP had any luck with fixing yours?
Thanks in advance
