C5 Aux adaptor fitted :)

Post by timborob »

Hi All

I have now (atlast) had the Connects 2 CTVPGX010 Aux adaptor fitted
:D

It was delayed several weeks as I had ordered from an online company
which in the end doesn't seem to exist and i had to go through paypal to get a refund

Anyway I can report got great service from a more local radio dealer
and device was quick and easy to fit and can now attach any MP3 for 1,000's of music tracks

It comes with a rather large connections box which 2 RCA type plugs
fit into but luckily there is enough room to tuck this box up/under in the left hand side footwell near the glovebox.

Sound from it is very clear from my Iriver MP3 player but you do have to put volume up by 3 or 4 levels to get same volume from a CD playing.

Well worth the £32 I paid including delivery.
Regards
Tim

Ah so thats the AUX connector you have - ive just asked in your other thread.

I have one of these fitted to the C5 SX, i really need on in my C5 VTR too. Its the connects2 as you have there.

I find it plays my ipod quite quietly, although this might be more to do with the ipod than the cable itself. Its not very quiet but i have to have the volume up by quite a way.

Good item and keeps the car with its standard radio/CD.

Ive got my lead under the centre console and out of the rear ashtray/cubbby. I put a hole in the bottom corner of the ashtray box and ive put the lead up through there. So i can access it easily but its not on display in the car when its not being use, the lead fits under the ashtray/cubby lid. Very handy!

Mine is quiet too but atleast the qualities good and not really any background hiss/sound i could pick up

I have a program on my PC somewhere that increases output volume
on MP3s tracks which i will have to try out and see if i can get the levels
similar to the CD + radio without them losing quality.

My leads tucked round the LHS of the centre console
It would be nice to bring it out of the ashtray like you have done

BTW the open ashtray makes a perfect stand for my Nokia phone which sits sideways on it.
:)

Shame my phones screen goes blank after 60 seconds otherwise it would be perfect for my needs

Do these fit to the standard fitment Radio/CD player in place of the multichanger? I did think about one of these for myself but didn't know if it would work.

Yes it certainly does
:)
After connecting up as stated it worked straight away for me

BUT I did read somewhere you may need to go to a dealer or Lexia owner if the CD changer option hasn't been enabled

Luckily I didn't need to
but would have if it didn't work.

Ah, It should work straight away for you then
:)

I would like to see one of these Lexia's and have one connected up and my car checked.

Since you are reasonably close to me being in Kent,Could you do this once you are more used to it?

Sure, lm looking for cars to plug in, most of it is pretty straight forwards, the fault codes are the confusing thing.
I work in london so it would be easy for me to call in and "plug you in"

Ill have to get myself another connects2, i miss my ipod in the car

I saw a lexia for the first time the other week, Davetherave used his on my car at the DSM event. Really interesting bit of kit, id like to get one myself. Since the C5 is so computerfied there are all sorts of functions you can do with a lexia. Look up past fault codes which have been cleared, look at the mileages they were cleared. It can activate a lot of the electrical features, such as operating the cooling fan and suspension pump. You can even set new height limits on the suspension! I wouldnt mind mine a little lower, as the gap above the wheels is more than around them.

I want to fit cruise control, we didnt find where on the lexia to enable that, i think there might be a code needed to be typed in?

You go into the injection ECU programing menu & set RVV to present.

If you have the later style brake pedal switch that has 4 pin/wires on it then you dont need to do anything with the brake switch, it's a dual function one.
If its just a 2 pin/wire brake switch then you need to fit an additional switch (specific to the cruise function as it has a slighly different plug, there is a hole already there & the wiring & plug should already be there for it though it may be wraped in foam and not initially noticable.
If you dont already know the switches are located behind the passangers glovebox (where they would be if it were a LHD) on the brake linkage bracket, not at the pedal.

Must admit it would be handy to have it abit lower,
to say what its set at when it reaches 68 mph or so as not only looks better but may improve MPG too

Im not sure if anyone has actually tired to see what the C5 would be like a bit lower. I wouldnt mind giving it a go.

Only very slightly just so the gap around the wheel arch is a little more even. It shouldn't play around with the ride quality too much, if anyting it would be slightly better over speed bumps, well the ones around here anyway, as mine often comes to the end of its downward travel when coming off the bumps.

It also wont effect the height at which the car lowers at speed, as this should be another perameter somewhhere. Likewise the increased height when it senses a rough road - mine sometimes does this if going over continour speed bumps.
