Changing the head gasket always knocks the performance for a while, I think its because the carbon seal has bee disturbed, once you have done a couple of thousand miles it should be back to normal.

Oil in those water's?

Post by dieseldoggy »

Hi then oil feed is in front offside of engine look down through gap by inj pump if it's going you'll see it's wet there. i had mine go it dumped all the oil into water way pushed water out of header tank then after it had been left sucked or drained it all back into sump?

We thought it was cooler but if you have always used anti freeze it's a slim chance it will be that?

Quick Update. Drove gently down to Devon on Friday morning (130 miles) with a heavy load; noticed again how a full tank plus heavy load in back improves the ride.

When I checked the coolant on Saturday there didn't appear to be any more oil in header tank - just a few drops floating on the surface. Drove back at normal pace - cruising at 3,000 rpm in 5th on the M5. Will check the coolant again tonight or tomorrow.
