C5 Electro Valves 2.2 HDi 2004

Post by citroenxm »

NOT SUSPENSION ONES!!

Electro valves under the bonnet that controll Vaccumm, for Turbo, EGR Valve and various flaps..

Anyone know how much these are? Car is a 2.2 HDi Tiptronic, 2004, and needs 3 of them..

Thanks
Paul

Not bothered as long as they work.. I realise a working life of a small vac valve like these can be extreamilly varible!

Whats the damage for used ones?? Whats the likely chance of them working?

I take it the failed ones have had some brake cleaner or WD run thru them to try and free them up or is the motor the actual fault?

I'll see if the local place has any tomorrow for you Paul :)

As I recall £37.00 each eighteen months ago.

But I have to say that I would regard the failure of one as unusual but three..!
are you sure that they are U/S.

The valves should get warm when the ignition is on, to indicate functuality, one is, the other 3 are not...

Ones a Waste gate controller, second is the EGR vlave controller, the third the throttle butterfly. but ALL 3 valves are the same thing..

Cheers

service.citroen is not exactly clear... it shows the 3 valves in a sort of semi circle, but doesn't really identify them. The two outer ones are listed as part number 1628 LQ @ £42.29 each (ELECTRO VALVE), and the centre one as P/N 1628 HC @ £38.96 (VAC SOLENOID) (all inc VAT)

Thanks Richard..

Looking at the car: Brake servo resoviour.. theres TWO Stacked ontop of each other, then a 3rd to the right of those two... Its the two stacked that are not working..

Then theres a 3rd on the side of the head... just under the air intake pipe to turbo..

I don't think that I would consider perceived temperature as a reliable measure of whether they are good or not.

The solenoids themselves are in some cases (all?)driven with a pulsed signal with variable mark space ratio.
Certainly neither the turbo (waste gate) or the EGR will be active at idle.

A Lexia would give a much better indication of whether they are good or bad electrically although a resistance test will likely tell you as much, then a vac gauge tee'd into the output side of the respective valve and the valve energised either using the Lexia or an external supply and vacuum levels checked would be the way I would go. I am saying all this because in all that I have read and my own limited experience they are not a high failure item.

The two stacked ones one will be EGR ( I think!) mounted on left high side of bracket and the other is the turbo control mounted on the back and slightly lower on the bracket, as I said elewhere these will not be energised at idle.

Then theres a 3rd on the side of the head... just under the air intake pipe to turbo..
swirl valve control

Lexia session all done thanks!

And it is showing 3 dead! Hence me asking for advice on price or supply!

Anyone out there with a 2.2 they can take photos for me, It seemstheres also something missing from the LEFT side of the Servo resoviour, as theres two Vac pipes not connected to anything..

Someone else has been here before me messing around.

Thanks

Whats the chances of all 3 of them failing ?? I would have thought it highly unlikely. I would also agree that the fact one is warmer is not a good indicator as to if they are operational. Have you done any other checks like seeing if they are being powered up ? my first thoughts if i saw faults with all 3 coming up would be that they are not being powered up as they all share a common feed. just because lexia shows a fault code with them doesent neccisarily mean they are faulty. Can you auctuate them with Lexia ?

Nope I cant...

For the cost of the car and the price of the valves, its relativly worth it.

This same thing happend on a Xantia HDi 110, when the Turbo Wastegate Valve failled... The EGR one was warm, the Wastegate one cold..

Swapped for another, both warm, problem went away.

Ive also been informed from a reliable source that they should warm when working!

Thanks guys for advice.. Good stuff..

Regards
Paul
