Hello all.
The heater fan only works in position 4 - flat out, whether turning clockwise or anti-clockwise (recirculate) This wouldn't be so bad except the main vents remain shut, so the fan is blasting away, but no air through any of the vents.
Is it the switch, is it a relay, is it a transistor, or is it a mystery? Help would be appreciated.
Xsara 1998 Heater Blower Switch Faulty - any ideas?

Hi and welcome.
As you might suspect, yours isn't an isolated incident.
here is a thread on the problem from a few months ago.
Hope it helps.

The 169°C thermal fuse in the resistor pack has blown, cheap and easy to replace.
Usually caused by restricted airflow.
The vents shut is a likely cause, also a blocked pollen filter if it’s got one.
Vent faults are mechanical: bowden cables, sliders, flaps, or dash outlets shut unintentionally.
