Synergie remote key fob stopped working

Post by Lee D »

Our Y reg Synergie had a new key with integrated (2 button) fob provided and coded by a Citroen dealer approx 18 months ago as the original was lost.

The fob has recently stopped working and I fear I may have dropped a clanger by taking the battery out of the fob overnight to take with me as a sample for a replacement - hence possibly having lost the coding as the fob will not work with the new battery in (still starts the car)?.

I was in the motor trade a few years ago and seem to remember various combinations of pressing fob buttons and switching the ignition on/off used to be how you enabled the fob but am not having any success.

When the new key was made I remember some hideous charge for coding - anyone any ideas on how to do it yourself????.

Only a long shot but try turning the ignition to its pre start position and then pressing the lock/unlock buttons.Remove key and open/close door.Try remote from inside car.
Like i said its a long shot but its cheap

Please try;

Close all doors, boot and bonnet and insert key.
Turn on ignition and look for the Immobiliser light illuminating (looks like a key)
It should go out after about 5 seconds.
Once it's gone out, press the remote button.
Repeat if there's a second button.
Remove key from ignition.

Let us know if it works.

Take the remote to a auto locksmith. He can test the remote to see if its sending a signal.
We dont charge for this service.

It's got a 2 button combined fob and (fold out) key, there is an LED in the middle of the dashboard but no key or immobiliser symbol on the control panel?.

Have tried disconnecting the battery and running through the coding process but no success (fob doesn't seem to do anything at all).

Does anyone know of a good auto locksmith or similar in the Manchester or Cheshire area I could try???. Don't fancy the Citroen agent much for a 9 year old bus!.

Lee, whereabouts are you located?

Stupid question, but are the batteries in the right way. Believe me you'd be surprised........

I'm in Poynton (SK12), battery right way round (although I will confess to putting it in the wrong way when I first changed it!).

LED on dash? It's not an Infra Red setup is it? If so, you need to point the fob at the reciever when programming it.

The LED is on top of the dash in the middle and flashes when the ignition is switched off. There is a dark plastic 'dome' on the ceiling near the clock which I thought was the receiver or possibly a movement sensor for the alarm?.
