XANTIA;RUMBLING NOISE ON HIGH SPEED BRAKING

Hi.seen to be getting a rumbling noise on highspeed braking 60mph plus,there is no wheel bearing noise,all suspension etc is in good order,ive just whipped a FRONT AND BACK wheels off and the FRONT pads are low,REARS FINE .........would this be the cause?....

any thoughts would be great..ps X reg HDI

Heavily worn front pads will cause that sort of noise.
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(

Could be slightly worped disces, Think I'd replace the disces and pads (as pads are low anyway), if that doesn't sort it then at least you know the breaks are fine.

I get the same problem when breaking hard from high speeds. I put it down to cheap pads as I don't remember it happening before I changed them over on the front.

It could also be a knackered track rod end, had this problem on my punto. cheap enough to buy or get from local scrappy(will fit in your pocket) :)
