1996 ZX TD Estate - fuel gauge sender unit

I have just bought a new sender unit to try and sort out an inaccurate fuel gauge but there is no hole to fit it in - there is a hole under the seat for the lift pump but not one for the sender unit - does this mean mine has a combined unit?

I'm not that familiar with these but (sorry if this is stating the obvious, but stranger things have happened) , have you looked under the other side of the seat ?

Some have the piping at once 'access hole' and the wiring for the sender etc at the other.

Yes, looked all over - I even think I can see the shape in the bodywork where the other hole would be cut out.

I think the ZX has got a very strange fuel gauge. Mine goes from full tank down to half way in hardly any miles. It then goes to a quarter full pretty quickly after that. Once it's on a quarter full it takes ages to actually get to empty. My mate said his ZX was exactly the same.

on service citroen it shows two units fitted into the fuel tank,

one is the rheostat, the other they call a fule tank cover,

this sendor might not be the same part No. as the one you purchased,

and as Spider says it dose show two units fitted one each end on the tip of the tank,
