Xantia on ebay

Post by Napoleon »

I don't need a new car, but it's good to keep up to date with prices/condition etc.

Anyone with a view on this LX 1.9?

Suitable for svo? (when did Bosch pumps stopped being fitted to Xantiae anyway? Or was is model-related?)

1.9TD's were fitted with bosch pumps.
1.9D's were fitted with a mix of lucas and bosch (if memory serves)

The rust on the driver's side rear wheel arch worries me.
A lot of estates get it where water gets between the inner and outer skins, but usually it's the near side that's worse (more puddles).
That much rust would have me wondering if there's been a minor prang there popping the skins apart (my previous LX estate had it so bad you could push a finger through the wheel arch).

ANOTHER Xantia with an identity crisis!
I wonder why....linked to the rust maybe?

Well Mr Tim, take a closer look at the front double chevrons, its an estate with a pre mid 1994 front end, estates were not produced before 1995. Also being an early front end, the chevrons should be on the bonnet whereas in this example they are on the front panel mimicking the moulded chevrons on later S1 Xantiae.
There have been few ebay Xantiae with interesting combinations of front ends, from one which had two lots of double chevrons (Pre 94 bonnet and Post 94 front panel) to one with no chevrons on the front at all!

EDIT: Personally if the owner was going to put the chevrons on the front panel I would have though it would be best to put them nearer the NS headlight for that S1 XM look

Front end shunt?

Wonder if it could have caused the rust to be that bad, in which case, I'd certainly not go near it!

Kev, why doesn't my 1995 Xantia have the chevrons on the bonnet, then? Because it's a saloon, and the 'rules' were different for them?

Chevrons moved to the better position by 95.

I think 95 is too late for the chevrons to be on the bonnet, we had a 94 xantia which had the later grill.

Shame about the rust, but apart from that and the grill it looks pretty good, very low mileage and its a 1.9TD.

I know of a very early xantia estate, which despite having one owner from new and having no rear accidents its the most rusty xantia ive ever seen. Rear arches are almost hanging off. Fortunately its an odd brownly/red colour and doesnt show too much. Strangely it doesnt have electric front windows either.

Anyway, this look a reasonable car, however i do wonder why there is no pictures of the other side, sometimes a worry.
