DW8 auxillary belt tensioner 1.9D

Post by leigh »

Hi all,
I'm going to change the tensioner on the aux belt this weekend - its the one with a great big alloy block to it and the small shock absorber. The car's got power steering and air con.
Any tips for replacing this item, the noise the car makes at idle sounds like a ball bearing going round in a metal tin and goes away once the revs increase, other pulleys etc are ok as I changed the air con pump recently and they all felt ok.
There appears to be a large bracket attached to the block under the power steering pump. can the pump be eased out of the way or does the pipe work have to be disconnected to access the bracket.
Any advice on this repair greatly appreciated or if there's a post covering it perhaps you can point me in that direction

Cheers
Leigh
