Undocumented Xantia Feature

On a number of occasions I wanted to switch the car radio on without having the key in the ignition. This is particularly useful if you want to leave the car with passages inside. In order to do this you need to open the fuse box cover located inside the car. At the very top (towards the drivers seat) there is yellow 20amp fuse, if you move the fuse one leg to the side it activates the radio circuit to be live with the ignition on and off.

Yup its defenatly in the hand book..

AND, at the opposite end of the Fuse box is a 30amp fuse, move this one one leg and you'll find the Cigar Lighter / 12v Socket works WITHOUT the ignition on too!!!

I've just discovered this too

All the time I've had my Activa project it has irritated me the wireless was on manual control as I do like my wireless to go on and off with the ignition.

Be aware that if you move the main shunt that controls the cigar lighter etc. you'll have to reset the clock and radio code...

I didnt realise that the 12v socket could be set to turned off by the ignition!
If I had it would have saved my dad a couple of flat batterys when he leaves the heated seats on overnight! :o
Have to try it when i next go back.

So these are the two fuses which are installed "inbetween" the main rows?

Which way are they moved?

Thanks, Adam.

No they are the ones at the TOP, IE: Fuse One and the bottom IE: Fuse 30..

Move them one pin left or right depending which side they are already plugged in..

Can't you switch it on by pressing the on switch for a few seconds? I'm sure that worked with my Xantias and it certainly did with my dad's Xsara, I remember him showing me the feature.

I knew about the fuse for the radio, but not the other one....just swapped over the bottom fuse on mine and the 12V accessory socket in the passenger footwell is now live all the time. Cool - means I can charge the camping lantern when we're away without having to leave the igniton on for hours. Learn something new every day....
